Lace Nails!

I was prepared for my first attempt at a lace manicure to be a total disaster, so I was pleasantly surprised with this result.  I think it turned out...cute?  Or at least interesting.  And it was super quick and easy.  The purple base is OPI's Done Out in Deco.  I added black tips and a coat of Seche Vite and just stuck on a square piece of lace and cut it to fit my nail once the top coat dried.  So simple!

  1. Did you put the lace on before the top coat dried or added another top coat? How did you get the lace to stay?

  2. I put on a layer of top coat and pressed the lace over it while the top coat was still wet. When the top coat dried, I trimmed the edges of the lace so that it fit my nail. At this point the lace is stuck, but the edges may be a little frayed. You can add another layer of top coat like I did in the pic, but you will lose the texture of the lace. If you want to keep the "fabric" feel of the lace, try using a toothpick to dab the frayed edges with a little bit of nail glue or Fray Check. That's worked for me in the past but it takes a little longer. Hope that helps! I'd love to know how your nails turn out.

  5. I Just Finished doing this on my nails, and it turned out great! I am going to try a different lace next time, as the one I used had larger designs... But over all it turned out looking like lace. I just painted my nail with clear polish, and then pressed the lace on and cut the length off. I used White lace over a cement brown color.

  6. I'm so bummed-- this looks so easy but I tried it and it didn't come out too well-- see here http://pinterest.com/pin/5840674486903099/ I did all of the same steps you did-- but when I cut the lace around my nail it tears off, even with top coat below and on top-- dry. Any suggestions? tobebeautifulingodseyes.blogspot.com
