Confetti - Dreamdate

I've used this polish quite a few times since I first mentioned it two months ago, so I figured I should devote a post to it and share the love for anyone who wants to snag it at CVS for $1.99 while it's still available.

Dreamdate is a glittery frosted light pink, but the pink is very sheer so I generally use it as a top coat.  It's been perfect for classic french mani's (as above) when I want something extra shimmery, and I also use it over other colors to give them a frosty finish:

I did a quick swatch above to show some of the colors I've combined with Dreamdate in the past.  My favorite combination is definitely Dreamdate + black, though I have been known to frost just about any color I'm wearing if it strikes my fancy.  The frost comes out gold-toned (not pink) so I think it matches with just about anything.

Green French Tips w/ Confetti My Favorite Martian

I was thinking about how much I enjoyed my orange french tips from a little while back, so I thought I'd try green french tips using Confetti's My Favorite Martian.  I started with Barielle Nail Brightener, stamped the flower pattern from Konad m25 using Konad white polish, and then added the french tip.  Not sure I like how this turned out...I think it looks like there's algae growing on my nail.  I guess not all manicures are meant to be.

Confetti Paparazzi + Barielle Nail Brightener

My mani for today is pretty simple but I really enjoyed it.  I started with two coats of Barielle Nail Brightener, which is my all time favorite base for french manicures:

It has a subtle blue shimmer for a "brightening" effect, just like blue shimmer that you sometimes see in lip gloss.  The blue counteracts yellow/dull tones and the shimmer reflects light.  In the bottle it looks kinda opaque, but it goes on very sheer and subtle so it can be layered on top of white tips without a problem.  When I use Nail Brightener, it's like my natural nail...but better!

Then I used Confetti Paparazzi, an orange jelly shimmer, for the french tips.  I am terrible at free handing french tips so when I like to use jellies and glitters that are buildable and don't streak--they tend to be more forgiving towards shaky hands.

Black w/ Cleopatra Tips

Today's mani was super quick.  I used two coats of black (Sinful Colors Black on Black) and a gradual glittery french tip using China Glaze Cleopatra.  Cleopatra is amazing--it's a gold glitter with a rainbow of other colors thrown in that always make me think of a treasure chest.  To get the gradual look, I started with a regular french tip and then dabbed the brush sporadically right below it.  I like it because it's easy to free hand in a hurry and it doesn't need to be perfect and symmetrical on each nail.  I used thick top coat after the glitter tip so that the glitter wouldn't be scratchy.

Sephora by OPI - Techno Girl (with Red Tips)

I thought Techno Girl from Sephora by OPI would be cute for Valentine's Day, so I tried it using China Glaze Sexy Silhouette for the tips.  Techno Girl is a nice medium pink but it's similar to a lot of pinks that I own.  Sexy Silhouette is a really nice shimmery fuschia but it goes on translucent so I usually use it in layers.  I played around with a few different combinations including a matte effect--see more pics after the jump.
