Del Sol - Island Fever

Island Fever looks like a pearly lime green in the bottle, but once applied I thought it was a very pale pearly green.  I usually stay away from pearly polishes because they're so streaky even after several coats, but I ordered this as part of a holiday set along with Ruby Slipper and Heartbreaker from the Del Sol website and I figured I might as well give it a try.

Here is Island Fever without sun, looking very light green:

It's supposed to turn into the teal color of the hibiscus flower on the bottle when exposed to UV light (i.e., sun), but instead I got this:

I'm not even sure how to describe it...it's a dark metallic with green, blue, and silver tones.  Not necessarily unattractive, but it just wasn't what I expected.

I have pretty mixed feelings about this polish . . . I could probably learn to like the dark outdoor color but the light green indoor color is definitely not my style.

Green French Tips w/ Confetti My Favorite Martian

I was thinking about how much I enjoyed my orange french tips from a little while back, so I thought I'd try green french tips using Confetti's My Favorite Martian.  I started with Barielle Nail Brightener, stamped the flower pattern from Konad m25 using Konad white polish, and then added the french tip.  Not sure I like how this turned out...I think it looks like there's algae growing on my nail.  I guess not all manicures are meant to be.

Spring is in the air!

After some rain for the past few days, it's finally sunny outside and it feels like spring, so I wanted to wear something cheerful:

The shimmery lime green background is China Glaze Tree Hugger.  I stamped the flowers from fauxnad plate M59 (or GCOCL plate B02) using green and yellow Konad polish.  The grass on the ring finger is from Konad plate m66 and the dragonfly is a slice of fimo clay.

Holiday Nails Pt. 3

OPI Here Today Aragon Tomorrow
OPI Here Today Aragon Tomorrow without top coat
I've always been mystified by suede nail polish but in my search for another holiday green I picked up OPI's Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow Suede.  The formula was very smooth and the finish was matte with a little shimmer.  I liked the suede look but I absolutely fell in love with this color after I added a clear top coat:

OPI Here Today Aragon Tomorrow Suede half-painted with top coat
It was like magic!  The suede became a beautiful emerald colored shimmer.

Here Today Aragon Tomorrow with China Glaze Hi-Tek Tree Konad
Above is two coats of OPI Here Today....Aragon Tomorrow with one coat of clear top coat.  I added the gold Christmas tree from Konad plate m12 using China Glaze Hi-Tek.

Jade Is The New Black

Jade is the new black

I was never much of a fan of green nail polish until I saw Jade Is The New Black from OPI's Hong Kong Collection.  It's a nice dark green that's eye catching without being over the top.  I experimented a little with incorporating a holiday theme by stamping a poinsettia on one finger:

Jade is the new black M57 poinsettia konad

In the design above, the white base color is OPI She's Golden, which is a pearlescent white with subtle gold shimmer.  I used the poinsettia from Bundle Monster octagon plate M57 using Konad polish in red and green.  I wanted to try something different on my other hand so I used the houndstooth pattern from Konad plate m63 in white below:

Jade is the new black M63 houndstooth konad

Not sure how I feel about the houndstooth but it was fun to try!
